Faculty Author Presentation (March 2024)

Excited to be presenting a translation talk here at the University of Central Oklahoma this month. The talk, titled “Keeping it ‘True’: Metaphors in and of Italian-English Translation,” will discuss how we might get translation “right”… in all the different ways we might mean that.

The Italian phrase “traduttore, traditore” is often invoked in translation contexts as proof that a translator is, in fact, a text’s primary traitor. In this talk, translator Zachary Scalzo will talk about some of the challenges he’s approached in a variety of his translation projects – from poetry, fiction, and drama – and read from some of his solutions.

If you’re around Edmond, OK, feel free to come check it out! More information available through the UCO College of Liberal Arts.
